This meditation series is inspired by the Yamas & Niyamas, yoga's moral and ethical practices that cultivate a healthy relationship between mind, body, and spirit. The meditation themes in Reclaiming Peace create opportunities for exploration, introspection, Self-inquiry, and personal growth.
Each meditation is 18 to 25 minutes in length, and is formatted in a style that incorporates the following:
-Orientation - How to stay present? Building upon the concepts of Proprioception, giving the body time to orient itself in the present moment by creating a sense of safety. Be Here Now.
-Sensory Integration - Recruiting neural pathways that may be underactive due to stress, hormonal imbalances, trauma, PTSD, TBI, illnesses and other nervous system disorders. Stimulating left & right brain hemispheres. Promoting healthier mind/body communication for Central Nervous Systems, Peripheral Nervous System, and Vagus nerve tone.
-Breathing exercises (Pranayama) to address the most common emotional disturbances: Depression, Anger & Anxiety. Learn to identify when your energy is high or low, and how to center yourself.
-Emotional Regulation - Identifying emotions apart from the true Self to maintain consistency in character. Awareness of various emotional states and tools for observance of those emotional states. Skills to shift our mindset from negative emotional states to positive ones. Learning to employ a more responsive vs. reactive nature-Impulse control.
-Mantra/Positive Affirmation - The Face & Replace Method - Facing negative self-talk and replacing it with positive dialogue.
-Felt Sense/Physical sensory awareness/Visceral Awareness - Understanding how the body communicates through physical sensation that could help to identify energetic blockages relative to past experiences, traumas, belief systems, emotions, etc...
